Steve Toll, B.S. Columbia University,  along with his wife Linda, a writer and researcher in the area of Alternative Therapies for seniors with dementia, formed the company Prescription Music.  Together they have developed a Therapeutic Music Model for use with Alzheimer’s patients, along with complimentary assessment and measurement tools as well as an On Line Training and Music Subscription Service, which allow anyone to harness the healing power of music.   The importance of music has always been a critical element of Mr. Toll’s life, which has inspired the development of programs for seniors as well as children. Mr. Toll has been a speaker for the National Alzheimer’s Association and trains professional and family caregivers in the development of therapeutic music programs and conducts educational assembly programs for elementary and middle school students, which connect songs of America with themes in American History.

A classically trained violinist, guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist and songwriter, as a teenager he attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, which afforded him an introduction to study with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  Branching out musically from there, Mr. Toll was a student of world-renowned jazz pianist Gerald Butler. Currently, Steve Toll hosts a weekly NPR radio program heard in various cities of the country and is available for workshops and seminars.

Our workshops and seminars focus on the use of music as non-verbal communication.  We train caregivers to be aware of the affect feelings have on their patients.  Click here to see a comprehensive "Feelings Inventory".

Music has been shown to aid in stress reduction and is a meaningful activity for all ages. We have also found that the mix of seniors and children is a very effective method for promoting a home like environment. We just love this video of Dean Martin singing On The Street Where You Live.
We hope you enjoy it.
